Currently paste with pattern only applies the pattern offsets to the copied point and does not necessarily follow CAD. This works fine for flat surfaces but does not work for any surface with shape. I understand that paste with pattern "Curve" follows CAD but only the edge curve. Paste with pattern that would follow the CAD surface would allow users to fill any surface with surface points by only programming one surface point. This would be a huge time saver and give the user the ability to put multiple points anywhere on the CAD surface quickly. With PC-DMIS portable the COP contains millions of points but it is time consuming if you wanted to add rows of surface points on surface with shape. This would be a good feature for Portable or CMM.

suggested by: Scott BrownScott Brownhttps://ideacenter.hexagonmi.com/users/1609-scott-brown/topics/tag:ideacenter.hexagonmi.com,2024-03-06:/communities/40/topics/1350-export-part-model-and-measured-featurespointcloud-in-the-same-file/2024-03-06T18:06:07+00:002024-03-06T18:06:07+00:00Export part model and measured features/pointcloud in the same file. Then do the adaptive scan in the same bore. This accomplishes "ensure the probing of the bore is true to the bore". Thus minimizing 'elliptical' scanning of the bore, which in turn minimizes relying on the software to remove cosine errors due to constantly changing contact on the sphere (cmm probe stylus) relative to the centroid of the sphere (cmm probe stylus).

So, using an option of 'sample feature' where the sample is the same cylinder to be measured, it would minimize programming time and effort, by making those steps inclusive into the feature intended to be measured and later dimensionally verified for size, location and form.
David Courtneyhttps://ideacenter.hexagonmi.com/users/47-david-courtney/topics/tag:ideacenter.hexagonmi.com,2024-01-17:/communities/40/topics/1341-streamline-dimensioning/2024-01-17T14:56:32+00:002024-01-17T14:56:32+00:00Streamline Dimensioning [ideas]
I feel like a lot of features have been upgrade or streamlined to make them as easy or possible to use, but dimensioning has been left behind.
